[NEW] UPS Cargo Plane Crashes 💥 [updated]

A McDonnell Douglas MD-11 freighter operated by UPS Cargo, performing flight #5X2976 from Louisville (SDF) to Honolulu (HNL), crashed shortly after taking off from Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport. The aircraft was registered as N259UP and was carrying a total of three crew members.

Reports indicate that flames were seen coming from one of the engines during takeoff, preventing the aircraft from gaining altitude. A violent explosion and fire occurred following the crash. In the aftermath, all arrivals and departures at Muhammad Ali International Airport were suspended.‎

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) have launched an investigation into the incident. The NTSB will lead the investigation and provide updates as new information becomes available.

‎It is reported that the aircraft crashed onto a UPS warehouse during takeoff, causing the facility to become unusable after the explosion. It remains unclear whether the building was occupied at the time of the crash.
